City Attorney
City attorneys are appointed by the Mayor and are charged by statute with the responsibility of managing the legal affairs of the city. That includes advising department heads, drafting ordinances and other documents, performing title searches and prosecuting ordinance violations.
Bruce Embrey was appointed to the office of City Attorney by Mayor Walker on January 1, 2004. He also serves as a member of the Board of Public Works and Safety. He served as a trial court judge in Miami County for 26 years, retiring from the Circuit Court on November 1, 2002. Bruce is married to Cheryl and they have three adult children and two grand children. He spends his spare time playing golf (badly), playing ringmaster for the Peru Amateur Circus and facilitating classes for Leadership Miami County.
